BDO appoints Petr Vondras, VAT expert, as partner

The management of the Czech consulting group BDO is expanded by a new partner, Petr Vondraš. He is a certified tax advisor who specialises in value added tax (VAT), and is also a member of the VAT section of the Chamber of Tax Advisors. Petr Vondraš joins the existing five new partners appointed to this leadership role this year.

Petr Vondraš has more than 20 years of experience in tax and accounting consulting with a focus on indirect taxes, especially value added tax (VAT). He has spent his entire career in the companies that are part of today's BDO.

As a tax advisor, he provides tax services to foreign companies, including international taxation and VAT registration in the Czech Republic and other EU countries, preparation of corporate income tax returns and general tax advice. In addition, it also deals with the taxation of solar and wind power plants.

"I have been working with Peter for more than 20 years. I appreciate his exceptional expertise, great work for our clients, but also his general interest in maintaining a high level of quality in the tax consulting profession, actively supporting the professional growth not only of his colleagues at BDO, but also other tax advisors and the professional public to understand the changes in tax legislation and to be able to apply their knowledge correctly in practice," comments Miroslav Jandečka, BDO's Managing Partner in the Czech Republic. Our experienced professionals, such as Petr Vondraš, are a great credit for this success," he adds.

Petr Vondraš graduated from the University of Economics in Prague and obtained his tax advisor certificate in 2010. He publishes in specialist journals published by Wolters Kluwer and Verlag Dashöfer. Since 2012, he has been a regular lecturer on VAT in the Czech Republic. In addition, he has also been a speaker at international conferences in Germany, where he has also published for the specialist magazine of Verlag C.H.BECK oHG.

He is the co-author of the 700-page Practical Commentary to the Value Added Tax Act, which explains the individual provisions of the new law effective from 1 January 2024, and the author of a number of professional articles. In 2018, he was awarded the first place in the Taxpayer of the Year competition in the category of value added tax.

"I see my role as a partner in the consulting company as an activator of the development of people in BDO and establishing or deepening cooperation with tax experts, institutions and companies. As I am a specialist in value-added tax, I would like to build a strong team in the field of VAT consulting at the level of the whole BDO as a first step," said tax advisor Petr Vondraš on his appointment.

The appointment of Petr Vondraš is related to the current development and growth of BDO, which has added five more partners during 2024. These are tax advisors Jiří Nekovář, Monika Lodrová and Petr Linx, auditor Jiří Sedláček and, most recently before Petr Vondraš, Petra Pospíšilová, the current president of the Chamber of Tax Advisors of the Czech Republic, who was re-elected to the position of president in November 2024.
