Intrastat: increase of limits and other changes from 1 January 2024

From 1 January 2024, the thresholds for Intrastat reporting will increase from CZK 12 million to CZK 15 million for goods exported to other EU Member States and CZK 15 million for imported goods from other EU Member States.

This is the limit that the reporting unit must calculate itself from the beginning of the calendar year or from the date of assignment of the VAT number, separately for exported and imported goods.

So now they must look out for the following situations:
  • A reporting unit that has not reached the reporting threshold (CZK 12 million) in 2023 is not obliged to report data in 2024 until it reaches the CZK 15 million threshold from 1 January 2024.
  •
  • A reporting unit that has reached the reporting threshold (CZK 12 million) in 2023 must still report data to Intrastat for the whole of the following year 2024. If it reaches the reporting threshold (CZK 15 million) in 2024, it is obliged to report to Intrastat at least by the end of 2025.
At the same time, from 1 January 2024, the value for reporting the Simplified Report will be increased from CZK 20 million to CZK 30 million. The reporting unit may submit this Simplified Report if:
  • the total value of goods imported and exported to another EU Member State in 2024 does not exceed CZK 30 million and, at the same time, it did not trade in the commodities listed in Communication No. 497/2021 Coll. (reported items of agricultural and food goods and selected energy goods) in that year; and
  • the value of goods imported separately and exported to another EU Member State in 2023 does not exceed CZK 30 million and, at the same time, it did not trade in the commodities listed in Communication No. 497/2021 Coll. in that year.
If a reporting unit has used simplified reporting in 2023 and at the same time its obligation to report to Intrastat ends because it has not reached the CZK 12 million threshold, it is obliged to notify the locally competent customs office of this termination in writing within the period from 18 January to 1 February 2024.

Further clarifications in the Intrastat reporting result from the Handbook for 2024:
If the partner of the reporting agent has multiple registrations in other Member States, the TIN corresponding to the country of destination must be entered.

Retrospective price adjustments between the central enterprise and the production or sales units in the group made by means of credit notes or debit notes (transfer price adjustments) based on the difference between the expected profit and the profit achieved, usually made at the end of the calendar quarter in a single amount, are not reflected in Intrastat. In this case, it is only an adjustment to profit, not an actual change in the value of the goods supplied.
